The latest HF/VHF/UHF rig from ICOM are supported by Remoterig. You get full remote functionality from the control panel and the feeling is exactly as if you use them locally.
It’s one of the simplest rig to setup and come on the air with. No special cables needed, just connect the RJ45:s and setup the parameters in the boxes. The performance of the radio is comparable with much more expesive earlier models. This setup is going to be a Killer, believe me. The picture below show my control panel when visiting our relatives 1500 km from home. RRC with WiFi and a Huawei 4G/LTE router with Wifi in the kitchen window is all needed. I got full control over my remote HF-station and are able to chat with the guys at home on 2m.
(4G/LTE gave 20-40 Mbit and 36 ms pingtime) Note! ICOM have made a hardware modification lately (March 2014) which makes later produced rigs incompatible with the orginal Remoterig boxes (New IC-7100 control panels are also incompatible with old IC-7100 main units). The reason of the modification was to avoid that data communication will be heard in FM mode at low modulation leves. They have solved it by reducing the amplitude of the data sent from control to main unit. To handle this modification in the Remoterig a interface PCB called 1258M has to be installed in strap socket of the Control-RRC. This board is quite simple and can be built by your self also ( ).
The ICOM modification was done from serial numbers US02003001 and in EU03003601.

Can anyone tell me if you can date the Icom radios by the serial Number please? Or any other info you can get from the radio before considering purchase. From the 746 reflector: 'I had read this before but saw some posts about 6 digit serial numbers as opposed to 7 digit numbers. The 7 digit numbers were supposed to represent the newer rig which were fixed or moded. Microcal origin 6 free download for mac. The six digit serial numbers belonged to the older rigs which had the problem. Since my serial number began with a 0 (zero) I did not know if this was a newer rig or older one.'

Drop an email to Icom, they have been very helpful to me in the past even when I was enquiring about 2nd hand rigs (they even sent me a FREE instruction manual for a handy I bought from ebay, it was a photocopy but it was free, inc postage!) I phoned Icom about a fault on my old IC-746 and they told me the date when it was first sold, also pointed me in the right direction on fixing an unusual fault. Not like Yaesu, those muppets couldn't be bothered to help me out on what I thought was a faulty FT-857 only to find it's the way the radio was, bloody rubbish. Icom have an excellent service dept in the UK. I had a fault with an IC-2E, a quick phone call to them got me the component value I needed to fix the fault. When my 746 went back they were very helpful on the phone and very quick to repair it and ship it back to me. I found Yaesu to be helpful, but did have trouble with the time they spent at first not fixing the radio. Got it back eventually, the first item I got it back it wasn't fixed, but was aright in the end.
Anyway, I'll shut up now. Can anyone tell me if you can date the Icom radios by the serial Number please? Or any other info you can get from the radio before considering purchase. Greetings from sunny Glasgow, my 3 year old 7400 with 7 digit serial no. 01., is back to Icom for display backlight fault, (under xtended warranty, thank gawd!) This was a known problem with the 746 and should have been modified on the 7400.
You can invent whatever numbering scheme you like, but in this specific case the first three numbers a hard-coded. For example: • 1.1.*.* is a marketing decision • 2.0.*.* is a big marketing decision • *.*.1.* is a patch • *.*.*.243 is an automatic number that increases with each build Batch File The batch file replaces the entire contents of the shared Assembly Info file every time the build runs. I am using my own custom build number format: $(TeamProject)-1.0.0$(Rev.r) This results in “ProjectName-1.0.0.0”. When we come to use this build number, we won’t want “ProjectName-“, so we’ll just take the rest. Batch file execute exe. That is because sales and marketing wanted control over the major and minor version and the third number was used for patches.
